Trying to learn more about lighting for food photography...which means more good looking snacks!
2017
Here's to more collaborations with like minded weirdos this year, love all the stuff I made in 2016, and I want to make bigger, weirder and more challenging stuff coming up
To the moon!
Wrapping up a new installation next week that has occupied my brain sine July. Coincidentally also the time it took me to blow through TNG and Voyager on Netflix. ENGAGE!

Remember the early 2000s when we all wore plastic clothes for a hot minute...

Flat Lay Love
Flat lays at work, I am one step closer to my dream product shoot (which is to crush eye shadows and lipsticks for a makeup product shoot, like the ones I saw in Glamour when I was growing up)

Splatter Paint
Vancouver Courier feature!
My last project made it into the Vancouver Courier!
Inspired by the opening sequence in Hitchcock's Rear Window, the miniature cityscapes have captured the attention of the community, and I couldn't be happier. That's exactly what I wanted, for people to walk by and see themselves. All of the buildings are to scale, the three level apartment building stands just over 6 feet; all populated with 12 inch wooden drawing models, going about their daily lives :)
Here are some captures from the article
True love? Something like that..

Kneon Magazine/Hey Jude/Danaea Li
Painting a pineapple is not as easy as you think. It has nooks and crannies, you gotta prime it super well, and the best part: it's a perishable food item so it's weird and smelly and absorbent. But man does it look good in pink.
Super happy with this fun shoot for Hey Jude Shop, I got to make bubbles, pink milk, smash cupcakes and any excuse to get helium balloons of course.
Good times! Full editorial in Kneon Magazine Issue 10
New work in Zodiac Magazine
I designed and propped the set for "On Pointe", published this month in Zodiac Magazine's second issue.
I put down a new floor, pulled antique crates and basically got to play with the manufacturing supplies that were already at the shoot location which was a dusty warehouse.
I also broke the fog machine and operated it the whole time by sticking two wires together, good times.

Spring with the Dutch Masters

Building these Vermeer-like table settings and wardrobe was such a special project, and my first big production this year.

6 months in the making
Finally! The culmination of my year at work in the studio, this year we recreated artwork that was damaged in a fire, and some just by age, for the 20 year anniversary of Front & Co. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, both because the records of the original installation were just a few photographs, and because I was very aware of it being someone else's work. Hope we did it justice.

Lots of stuff coming down the pipeline this month: I did some tablescapes for Danaea Li Photography, which is my FAVOURITE thing to do. I used to think merchandising housewares was my jam until I realized someone would have to take something off my table to buy it, and I just wanted to slap it out of their hand.
And last week, I got to jump in to a beauty shoot for Wove Magazine with Oz Zandieh and Chris Winter Photography .
Moodboarding ... can't wait to start this!
New Work in Sessions Magazine
I like doing model test shoots now and again, like this one with photographer Fara Winestock, my pal Teia on makeup, and Sarah (on her first shoot w/Lexington Models) Good practice for everyone, and it got picked up in Sessions Magazine online!
On Set at Whytecliff Park
Good day shooting today, last ocean shoot of the season with these Amish cool kids from Richards Models
New work in Cake Magazine
Inspired by Courtney Love (& my youth, incidentally) New work in Cake Mag!
Shooting on sand dunes with -Legs-
I got to shoot on a sand dune last week! (There is sand EVERYWHERE in my house, my kit, my shoes...totally worth it though, what a location!) And what a bunch of babes from Legs to dress up!
